Victoria Lutz awarded Youth Tour trip to Washington, D.C.
Victoria Lutz, a sophomore at Park Rapids High School, has been selected to represent Itasca-Mantrap on the 2008 Youth Tour when she travels to Washington D.C. June 14-19. Victoria is the daughter of Roberta and John Lutz of Park Rapids.
During her visit to Washington, D.C., Victoria will travel with other high school students from Minnesota and across the nation. She will meet with state representatives and senators, attend educational seminars to learn more about our nation’s government and electric cooperatives, and tour historical monuments and museums.
Sophomores and juniors were eligible to participate in the annual contest, which was promoted through Park Rapids, Nevis and Walker-Hackensack-Akeley High Schools as well as through the local media.
Students qualified by submitting applications and answering three short answer questions relating to electric co-ops, energy efficiency and government. Interviews were held at the Itasca-Mantrap office in Park Rapids on March 26 and 27 to select the winner, who was chosen based on the students’ personality, poise, leadership qualities, achievements and their application.
Itasca-Mantrap congratulates Victoria for being named this year’s Youth Tour delegate!
